Getfused is seeking a digital marketing intern for spring/summer 2014 to join our growing digital marketing group. This internship has a high potential of turning into a full time position. Internship candidates must be eager to learn, have strong writing skills, be well organized and love the digital space! We are looking for seniors who are graduating this May and are offering a paid, part-time internship (15-20 hours) in our Boston, MA office on 285 Summer Street.

Responsibilities during this internship include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage social media channels for internal projects
  • Conduct research in regards to social media, email marketing, search engine optimization, search engine marketing and other digital marketing areas
  • Assist in the management of the Getfused website
  • Assist in content creation for the Getfused website
  • Create quarterly digital marketing reports using Google Analytics
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Participate in group trainings and present research findings

Requirements:

  • Senior in college, graduating May 2014
  • Majoring in marketing or related field
  • Social media knowledge and experience in a business setting (ideally from past internships)

The Link Group, a nationally-ranked, independent market research firm has some research coming up in Boston March 30-April 2, 2014.  More specifically, they will be conducting interviews, on behalf of a national retailer, about shopping habits.  They’re looking for students  who would be available to work all of the days or two that could share the hours.  Training would be completed the first day of research at a time to be determined.  Each student will be compensated $20.00 per hour.  This would be a great opportunity for some marketing students to get some “in-field” experience.

  • assist in content creation for news updates
  • updating website at least 2x per week (or whatever you would recommend)

  • if possible, adding additional ways to promote the company
  • finding ways to grow social media following (huge plus!)
  • sharing ideas and concepts on how to improve specific WKE information sources and promotional formats

This internship requires telecommuting alongside 2 in-person/face-to-face meetings per week. The intern is expected to be working the equivalent of 8 to 14 hours a week. Schedule is flexible.
 
This is an unpaid internship but we are willing to work with institutions to offer academic credit. Additionally, dependent on your marketing skills, this position could result in a percentage based of off new business contracts.

The Museum of African American History in Boston and Nantucket is the largest institution of its kind in New England and is dedicated to sharing the rich legacy of African American accomplishments. For nearly four decades, the Museum’s education programs, exhibits and events have covered a wide range of issues: economic, literary, educational, political, social, and cultural enterprises and entrepreneurs from the colonial period through the nineteenth century.

About the Marketing and Public Programs Department:

The Marketing and Public Programs Department at the Museum of African American History, headed by Director Lynn DuVal Luse, is the core of the Museum’s external relations, sharing information about the Museum’s events, exhibits, and educational opportunities with the public through outreach, media, and community partnerships. The Department is also responsible for scheduling, planning, and implementing the Museum’s busy calendar of public programming including lectures, concerts, book signings, exhibit openings, and more.

 

Internship Description:

At the Museum of African American History, we strive to create meaningful, educational, and valuable internship experiences for college and graduate students in the fields of history, public history, museum education, non-profit management, communications, marketing, and more.

 

The Summer 2013 Marketing Department Internship will be comprised of the following projects and responsibilities:

 

  • Audience engagement through in-person, phone, and online outreach

 

  • Marketing research to support current and upcoming outreach initiatives

 

  • Press and media follow-up leading up to and following public programs

 

  • Research and content development for the Museum’s social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube

 

  • Interacting with visitors and the public at the Museum’s historic sites and in the Museum’s Welcome Center

 

  • Documenting public programs and events through photography and/or videography

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Upper level undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in a degree program in Marketing, Museum Studies, or a related field.

Duration of Internship and Hours Required:

 

  • The internship will take place between June and August, for a total of approximately 12 weeks. Exact start and end dates can be scheduled with the Department supervisor.

 

  • Interns are required to work at least 15 hours a week; however, would be welcome to work up to 25 hours a week.

 

  • If completing the internship for course credit, the Museum staff will work with you to identify a schedule that will meet your college or university’s hourly requirements.

 

  • Occasional evening availability required for public programs and events.

Responsibilities also include managing promotional campaigns, fulfillment of ticket orders, game-day set up/ breakdown, and execution of in-game promotions for all 41 Varsity programs, especially concentrated on football, men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s basketball and men’s lacrosse.  The marketing & promotions interns are responsible for promoting Harvard Athletics on campus and in the community.
